Arunachal Pradesh

Was declared as a state on 20th February 1987. It is situated in the North - Eastern part of India with 83743 square kilometers. It shares border of 1600 kilometers with three nations. The length of border with Bhutan to the west is 160 kilometers stretch, China to the north and north – east with a stretch of 1,080 kilometers and Myanmar to the east with a stretch of 440 kilometers. It stretches from snow - capped mountains in the north to the plains of Brahmaputra valley in the south. Arunachal is the largest state area wise in the north - east region.  It is geographically located in latitude 26° 30' N and 29° 30 ' N and longitude 91° 30' E and 97° 30' E in the Eastern Himalayan province, the richest bio - geographical province of the Himalayan zone. Arunachal Pradesh has over 450 species of Orchids and has its own exclusive and rare orchid. Tipi houses one of the largest orchidarium in Asia.

• Parshuramkund in the Lohit district - Sage Parshuram is considered to have washed his sword here after the massacre of the Kshatriya clan
• Bhishmak Nagar - which was an important location in the Mahabharata period.
• Malinithan – Granite sculptures belong to 14 century, one kilometer east of Likabali
• Tippi Orchid Centre - On way to Bomdila in West Kameng District
• Akashiganga – Pilgrimage center 12 kilometers  Malinithan, West Siang District

The major city of the state includes Itanagar, Along, Naharlagun, Tawang, Bomdila, Rupa, Namsai, Bhalukpong, Roing, Tezu, Seppa, Ziro, Daporijo, Pasighat, Yingkiong and Khonsa. Major festivals of the state are Mopin, Solung, Nyokum, Lossar, Kshyatsowai, Tamladu, Sarok, Si - Donyi, Boori-boot, Dree, Reh, Sipong Yong, Chalo - loku, Nichido, Sangken, Mopin, Oriah etc. The state enjoys climatic conditions varying from tropical to temperate and Alpine. It also has four major cats i.e. tiger, leopard, and snow leopard and the lesser feline like the golden cat / marbled cat. Over 450 species of bird can be found in the state, Namdapha is famous for birding. Endangered species of bird such as the white winged duck, sclater monal bangal florian, etc can be spotted here.

Connectivity / Communication

Airways – Major airport is Guwahati nearly 381 kilometers from Itanagar.  Other Airport is Lilabari in Assam, 57 kilometers from Nahariagun and 67 kilometers from Itanagar. Helicopter service is also available in the north east India.
 
Railways – Major railway station is Guwahati 381 kilometers from Itanagar. Nearest Railway station is Harrmoty in Assam 23 kilometers from Naharlagun and 33 kilometers from ltanagar. The station is served by Arunachal Express.

Roadways - It is connected by daily bus service from Guwahati and the other cities of Assam. Arunachal State Transport buses are plying throughout Arunachal, Assam and Meghalaya. Private transport operators also run Deluxe Coaches on many routes. Direct bus services are available for Naharlagun / Itanagar from Guwahati (381 kilometers), Shillong (481 kilometers), Tezpur (216 kilometers), Dibrugarh (375 kilometers), Tinisukia (415 kilometers), Nagaon (275 kilometers), Namsai (495 kilometers), Jorhat (245 kilometers).
